An unknown woman in a pink fleece. A boy dancing in front of a scene of shocking violence. Yet another protest in the city centre, but this time, everyone is watching.
LEECHES weaves together the lives of three inherently insecure characters who capitalise on an alleged act of violence at a protest. Against the backdrop of mounting social unrest, the characters’ desires become dangerously entangled and motivated by this disaster of which the objective facts are scarce and malleable.
This is a story told by three unreliable narrators. In a relentless pursuit of validation, they sculpt their own truth about what happened at the protest in an attempt to fill their own personal voids. At the centre of the violence, and the presumed victim, is a woman in a pink fleece whose identity becomes subject to a public tug of war.
This play was longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting 2022, and won the WriteForTheStage award for best new writing at Manchester Fringe Festival 2025. It has since been published by WriteForTheStage books, and now heads to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, featuring at one of the largest, most renowned venues for the full month.
This is an exciting opportunity for your business to be promoted to thousands of audience members, with the potential to feature as part of the further life of the play after the Fringe run. Andy Jordan Productions, our collaborator, has taken theatre to the top five venues in Edinburgh for the last forty years, many of which have done national and international tours since.
With the show approaching difficult subjects, such as tackling stigmas around the homeless community and immigrants, this opportunity would be perfect for an ethically focussed brand, with an interest in challenging perceptions.
In return for your support, we endeavour to promote your brand at the Edinburgh Fringe festival on all of our promotional materials, including flyers, posters, billboards and press releases. Not only would you be part of our journey at one of the biggest venues at an internationally recognised festival, you would also go on the journey with us beyond the festival.
